collezione di vicinato [Neighborhood Collection] aims at creating new approaches to contemporary art, through innovative ways of enjoying the artwork: this is achieved by an experimental practice of proximity which intends to bring artistic creations into the ordinary time of daily life, that is, within domestic or workplace environments. This practice of sharing and closeness aims to bring about a deep relationship with the artwork through a direct, daily, intimate and domestic contact. The perception of the artwork’s presence over time allows us to stimulate the artist’s research, share it with other guests and deepen it, thus facilitating the discovery of what is behind the work of art, of the process of care for artworks and of small routine maintenance tasks.
-
collezione di vicinato involves all those who are united by the desire to know and “inhabit” the artwork, and who feel the urge to take part in this practice. Through a simple request you will be able to receive as a temporary loan one of the artworks in the database. The works are conceived as dialogic tools that are able to create linkages among different materials, disciplines, themes, functions, and to trigger discussions that may turn useful for developing a critical awareness towards the world. Therefore, as the only restriction on the loan, the borrower will be required to hold a meeting to discuss the work in depth, an event that can be public or exclusively open to one’s acquaintances.
-
The database allows you to remotely explore neighborhood collection. Each entry contains a brief description of the artwork, its technical characteristics as well as its availability for a loan. A photo gallery intends to document the history of loans, creating a mapping of the artworks’ routes and of the meetings focusing on the artwork.
-
The Neighborhood collection aims to rhizomatically spread its practice by establishing collaboration agreements with associations, institutions or individuals who believe they can network, as well as share, particularly interesting works and/or texts.

The scientific committee will be responsible for evaluating and approving new productions, acquisitions, donations, loans, and creation of the new networks. The project aims to support contemporary creativity with at least one acquisition or new production per year. Paola Bonani (art historian), Luca Coclite (artist), Francesca Rachele Oppedisano (curator), Laura Perrone (curator) are part of the scientific committee.

collezione di vicinato also intends to develop and strengthen the exscenario online project within which presents original multimedia works, mostly video works accompanied by an in-depth text. exscenario was born in 2020 as a multimedia tool, a special channel with which to reach a wider audience thanks to the online dissemination of live performances produced by studioconcreto, documented and subsequently accessible on an online platform dedicated to video art and performing art. This tool is in continuity with studioconcreto’s research that links performative practices to the undiscovered potential of specific architectural landscapes.
-
collezione di vicinato is a project by Associazione di Promozione Sociale Zero al Cubo, therefore joining the pilot project is open even to non-members until December 2024. A membership campaign will subsequently be launched.
-
The collection of support for the project will be started.
